PROTOMED HONOURED AT 2011 STARPACK AWARDS - September 2011
Pharmaceutical packaging innovator, Protomed, has been honoured at the 2011 Starpack awards for Biodose and Medigram, its groundbreaking, British-made monitored dosage solutions. Judges for the awards, which recognise innovative packaging and design technology, praised the company for Biodose's positive effect in averting medication errors in care homes, boosting patient independence and turning around the fortunes of ailing pharmacies, as well as cutting medical waste for the NHS.
Protomed CEO, Norman Niven said: "It's wonderful to be recognised for the impact Biodose has on transforming the way patients manage their medication. We are extremely proud to produce the only monitored dosing solution on the market that accommodates solid and liquid medication. To be recognised in this category alongside big names such as Aquafresh further strengthens the faith we have in our product."
Protomed created Biodose to eliminate medication-related errors in care homes and domiciliary care by providing trays with sealed pods, personalised with each patient's name, photo, photo of the drug and dosage time. With colour coding and dosage instructions on each pod, Biodose has been proven to reduce the risk of dosing errors for care homes by up to 80 per cent. The Starpack award follows a remarkably successful 12 months for Protomed, after it scooped the prestigious Young Business of the Year gong at the Manchester Evening News Business of the Year Awards in December 2010. The Starpack award ceremony will be held on September 22nd at the prestigious Landmark Hotel, Marylebone Road, London and will be hosted by Alan Deddicoat, the voice of the lottery balls.
